On February 24, the "Xinghui" ship, loaded with 33 large fruit and vegetable refrigerators, 3000 tons of cement and other groceries, left Lianyungang New Oriental Container Terminal (LPCT) and is expected to arrive at Qixinghai Terminal in Cambodia in 8-10 days. It marks the successful first voyage of the direct route of "Lianyungang Port of China-Qixinghai International Port of Cambodia".
"Two multi-purpose ships will be put into operation in the initial stage of the route, which can be attached to Lianyungang Port and Qixinghai Wharf in Cambodia on a biweekly basis." Xie Jiawu, Deputy Manager of Market Development Department of Lianyungang New Oriental Container Terminal Co., Ltd., introduced that after the opening of this route, vegetables, machinery and equipment around Lianyungang can be exported to Cambodia, and a variety of imported fruits and rice and other agricultural and sideline products can also be brought back from Cambodia to create a corridor of fishing and rice for agricultural products between China and Cambodia.
The direct operation of Lianyungang Port and Qixinghai International Port in Cambodia will provide cargo owners with a new logistics mode with lower comprehensive cost and better transportation efficiency, effectively promote trade between the two countries, and fill the gap of direct shipping routes between Lianyungang Port and Cambodian Port. It is of great significance for Lianyungang to speed up the construction of international hub seaports and promote high-level opening to the outside world, and provides important support for deepening RCEP regional economic and trade cooperation and promoting the common development of China and Cambodia.
