The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology issued the Guidelines for the Construction of Carbon Peak and Carbon Neutralization Standard System in the Industrial Field

2024-02-22 09:54:05

By 2025, China plans to initially establish a carbon neutralization standard system for carbon peak in the industrial sector, and formulate more than 200 urgently needed standards to provide technical support. By 2030, a sound standard system will be formed to achieve full coverage of key industry standards, support the peak of industrial carbon emissions, and gradually shift to the goal of carbon neutrality.

In order to give full play to the supporting and leading role of standards in carbon neutralization of carbon peaks in the industrial field, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, in accordance with the Implementation Plan of the Pilot Project for Standardization of New Industries (2023-2035), the Implementation Plan of Carbon Neutralization in the Industrial Field, and the Implementation Plan of Establishing and Perfecting the Standard Measurement System for Carbon Neutralization of Carbon Peaks, etc. It has organized and compiled the Guidelines for the Construction of Carbon Neutralization Standard System for Carbon Peak in the Industrial Field.

The construction goal requires that by 2025, the standard system of carbon peak and carbon neutralization in the industrial field should be initially established, and more than 200 urgently needed standards for carbon peak should be formulated, focusing on the formulation of standards in the fields of general basis, greenhouse gas accounting, low-carbon technology and equipment, so as to provide technical support for carbon assessment and carbon emission reduction in the industrial field. By 2030, a relatively complete standard system for carbon peak and carbon neutrality in the industrial sector will be formed, and the formulation of standards for coordinated carbon reduction, carbon emission management and low-carbon evaluation will be accelerated, so as to achieve full coverage of standards in key industries and key areas, support the overall peak of carbon emissions in the industrial sector, and gradually shift the focus of standardization work to the goal of carbon neutrality.
