Taiwan's cement industry began in 1915, when Japan's Asano Cement Co., Ltd. set up a factory in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, with an annual output of 30,000 tons, which opened the prelude of Taiwan's cement industry. After more than a century of development, Taiwan's cement industry has experienced a complete life cycle from germination, growth, prosperity to decline. In 1993, Taiwan's demand for cement reached its peak, with consumption and production reaching a historical peak of 27.97 million tons and 23.97 million tons respectively. As Taiwan's stock and real estate bubbles burst, demand for cement began to decline, and by 2023, Taiwan's cement production had dropped to 10.25 million tons.
