It is planned to invest 144 million yuan to build a 300000 tons steel slag pre-grinding system, a 300000 tons steel slag carbon capture system and a high-efficiency composite mineral admixture mixing system with an annual output of 1 million tons. After the project is put into production, the annual output of high-efficiency composite mineral admixture will be 1 million tons, which can directly capture and utilize 20,000 tons of carbon dioxide. By indirectly reducing the amount of cement clinker in cement and cement in concrete, the comprehensive carbon reduction will reach 250,000 tons.

The project uses non-carbon raw materials such as steel slag to capture flue gas CO2 in situ at low cost, and the steel slag becomes a carbon-fixing auxiliary cementitious material after carbon capture, which can be used in the production of low-carbon cement. At the same time, it can be mixed with mineral powder, fly ash and other materials to prepare efficient composite mineral admixture, which can be applied to cement, concrete and other related industries. Its technical advantages are mainly reflected in the following aspects:

First, the cost of carbon capture is low, the application scale of end products is large, and the integration of CO2 storage and utilization can be realized.

And secondly, the CO2 in the industrial waste gas flue gas is captured and solidified by using the steel slag, the stability problem of the steel slag is solved, the activity and the grindability of the steel slag are improved, and the high additional utilization of solid waste resources is realized.

Thirdly, it is of great innovative value. Different from the traditional CCUS technology in the fields of storage, oil displacement, agriculture and food, the new CCUS technology of this project can directly use the industrial tail gas with carbon dioxide concentration ≥ 12% without purification to more than 90%. Compared with the traditional process, the method has the advantages that a concentration unit and a transportation and storage unit are not needed, the reaction is carried out at normal temperature and normal pressure, the overall operation cost is effectively reduced, and the production efficiency is improved.

From the successful application of Jiyuan Zhonglian's technology of capturing CO2 from flue gas by steel slag to the completion and operation of the world's first set of technology of capturing CO2 from flue gas in lime kilns by steel slag.
