An earthquake measuring 7.1 on the Richter scale jolted Wushi County (41.26 degrees north latitude and 78.63 degrees east longitude) in Aksu Prefecture, Xinjiang, at 02:09 on January 23, with a focal depth of 22 km, according to the official determination of the

China Seismological Network.
