Russian President Vladimir Putin paid an official visit to China on May 20. Among them are a series of contracts signed by European Cement Group, a Russian cement giant, with several Chinese enterprises, including equipment supply, engineering, installation supervision and staff training services, with a total price of more than 500 million US dollars. This series of contracts was signed with China's Sinoma International, China Building Materials Group and China Machinery Industry Group.
"The contract was signed on May 20, 2014 and includes a complete set of equipment for the construction of a new dry-process cement production line," Eurocement said in its press release.
The equipment will be used to build new cement plants with a total annual capacity of 17 million tons in six regions of Russia, including Leningrad, Ryazan, Bryansk, Arkhangelsk, Ulyanovsk and Samara.
According to Eurocement, the project will enable Eurocement to increase the proportion of its dry process production to 100% by 2018. By the time the project is completed, 63% of Russia's cement manufacturing will be dry process production.
Filaret Galchev, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Eurocement Group, stressed: "The signing of these agreements means that Eurocement Group's plans for new cement plants have entered an active period, and at the same time, the accumulated experience of Chinese enterprises will enable Eurocement Group to use cutting-edge technology in the cement industry.". Overall, by providing high-quality cement for infrastructure and residential projects in Russia, the plan will greatly stimulate the progress of the Russian construction industry.
