Cemex recently opened its fifth plant in Clemencia, Colombia, located in northern Colombia, with a total investment of US $50 million and an annual cement capacity of 450,000 tons.
Cemex also plans to invest $125 million in early 2014 to build its sixth plant in Colombia, which is expected to take 24 months to build and produce 500,000 tons of cement annually.
Cemex expects greater growth in the Colombian market, especially in the infrastructure sector. Colombia's president, Juan Manuel Santos, has been investing heavily in roads, ports, railways and airports, with a total of $25 billion invested in the past four years.
