Recently, the Tibet Economic and Credit Office issued a notice on organizing a hearing on the replacement scheme of cement clinker production capacity of Basu Conch Cement Co., Ltd.
Basu Conch has completed and put into operation a 2500 t/d new dry process clinker production line in August 2020 (with an approved annual clinker production capacity of 750,000 tons), with a kiln diameter * kiln length of Φ4.3 * 64 m. The capacity of cement clinker corresponding to this kiln diameter is 3,000t/d (900,000t/a). The cement clinker production capacity corresponding to the actually completed kiln diameter exceeds the registered production capacity by 150,000 tons/year, and it is proposed to supplement 150,000 tons of cement clinker production capacity by means of reduction and replacement.
In this regard, an industry insider said frankly that Tibet is located in a high altitude area, and the production capacity of Φ4.3 * 64m kiln diameter is about 20% lower than that of inland areas. After the correction of altitude factors, the production line of Basu Conch Φ4.3 * 64m kiln diameter corresponding to 2500t/d is normal.
In this regard, China Cement Network specifically consulted the technical specialist of Tianjin Cement Industry Design Institute, who said that the design capacity of the same kiln diameter is different in high altitude areas and inland areas. The design capacity of high altitude areas is smaller than that of inland areas.

"However, the technology of cement industry is developing rapidly, even in high altitude areas, the phenomenon of overproduction is widespread, that is, although it is a 2500t/d kiln, its actual output will exceed the design capacity." Through multiple verification, Basu Conch is not a traditional "batch of small and large", Φ4.3 * 64 m kiln diameter in high altitude areas corresponding to 2500t/d line is normal, the main purpose of this supplementary capacity is to write off the overproduction part of the capacity, in the case of widespread overproduction in the country. Basu Conch's initiative to replenish production capacity deserves praise.
Even though there are regional particularities, the Tibet Economic and Credit Office and Basu Conch still hold a hearing on the capacity replacement plan in time, and the author agrees with it very much. Especially when the capacity replacement method is about to be revised, and under the preferential conditions for Tibet in the draft, we should not delay the rectification according to the current replacement method, which fully embodies the spirit of "China Cement Looks at Conch".
