In recent years, as the global voice for the goal of carbon neutral and carbon peak is getting higher and higher, the production of traditional cement is facing huge challenges due to the characteristics of high energy consumption and high emissions. Under such circumstances, low-carbon cement has gradually emerged in China's cement industry and attracted wide attention.
So what is low carbon cement? Professor Wang Dongmin of China University of Mining and Technology (Beijing) answered: At present, there is no accurate and specific definition of low-carbon cement. Generally speaking, the amount of carbon dioxide produced in the process of cement production has been greatly reduced compared with the traditional Portland cement.
Among them, reducing carbon emissions in cement production mainly needs to start from two key links: carbon dioxide produced by limestone decomposition and carbon dioxide emitted by coal combustion. Professor Wang Dongmin further pointed out that low-carbon cement is often called low-calcium cement, which is characterized by low content of CaO (calcium oxide).
For the development path of low-carbon cement, Professor Wang Dongmin put forward two main directions: improved low-carbon cement and subversive low-carbon cement. Improved low-carbon cement is mainly through improving the original production process of traditional Portland cement, such as reducing clinker consumption, improving energy efficiency, etc., but also including the development of special cements such as aluminate cement, sulphoaluminate cement, ferroaluminate cement and so on, the calcium content of these cements is lower than that of traditional Portland cement. O as to achieve the effect of low-carbon cement.
Subversive low-carbon cement is calcium-free cement, which means that subversive low-carbon cement is no longer traditional Portland cement. Professor Wang Dongmin stressed that the resources of limestone on the earth are not inexhaustible, so it is necessary to reduce the dependence on calcium carbonate in cement production.
In view of the shortage of calcium carbonate resources and the abundance of clay minerals on the earth, facing the development of the cement industry in the next 100 years, Professor Wang Dongmin proposed to study new cement and cementitious materials based on aluminosilicate. This kind of cement is expected to solve the problem of carbon emissions in the cement industry from both raw materials and fuels, and can also effectively achieve the role of solid waste absorption. If this kind of low-carbon cement is widely used, Professor Wang Dongmin predicts that the carbon emissions of the cement industry will be reduced by nearly 80%, which will undoubtedly have a revolutionary impact on the energy saving and emission reduction of the cement industry. Professor
Wang Dongmin said that the development of low-carbon cement is of great significance, not only in line with the requirements of the cement industry's own green development, but also an important measure to respond to the global consensus on energy conservation and emission reduction. China is the largest cement country in the world, and the low-carbon transformation of China's cement industry is very important to achieve the goal of "double carbon", but it will also bring opportunities and challenges within the industry, market shuffling and a new pattern of high-quality development.
China Cement Network will hold the "13th China Cement Industry Summit and TOP100 Award Ceremony" in Hangzhou on March 28-29. During the conference, awards will be given to the top 100 cement and supplier enterprises. At the same time, experts and scholars, China Railway and other construction units will be invited to discuss the new development trend of the cement industry in the future. Create the future together! At the meeting, Professor Wang Dongmin of China University of Mining and Technology (Beijing) will give a speech on the research status and development path of low-carbon cement concrete.
