On July 11, a news about "Indian Customs banning the export of quartz ore" triggered the sensitive high-purity quartz sand market, and the forwarding of several media further triggered a heated debate.

So what is the real situation so far?

According to SMM, it has learned from a number of Chinese enterprises engaged in quartz mining and trading in India that they have not received any notice from the local government.

At the same time, after logging on the relevant local government websites, no official documents were found.

Some articles on "export ban" published on the Internet have also been deleted.

Moreover, SMM learned from the relevant Indian high-purity quartz sand practitioners that at present, in order to cope with emergencies (mainly considering the uncertainty of regional policies), the leading enterprises have maintained a long-term inventory of quartz ore for more than one year, and the domestic enterprises have been supplemented by Unimin and TQC ore sources. China will not face the situation of "no sand available" in the short term.

Of course, it is worth noting that high-purity quartz sand is still in short supply compared with other photovoltaic links.

At present, due to the substantial expansion of silicon wafer enterprises in July and the emotional stimulation of the news, the price of high-purity quartz sand rose again on July 11-12. It is understood that the price of domestic inner layer sand has reached 420,000 yuan/ton, and the price of imported sand has reached 600,000 yuan/ton in the domestic market.

At the same time, the price of high-quality crucibles in China has also risen in the near future, even forming a certain support for the narrow rebound of silicon wafer prices-some silicon wafer enterprises have recently raised the price of 182mm P-type silicon wafers to 2.85 yuan per wafer.
