On July 11, the largest span traffic tunnel in Asia constructed by the 14th Bureau of China Railway, the key project of Qingdao's three-year action of urban renewal and urban construction, the Tangshan Road Interchange and Connection Line Project added to the Qingdao-Yinchuan Expressway, and the Tangshan Road Tunnel was formally excavated.

Qingdao-Yinchuan Expressway added Tangshan Road Interchange and Connection Line Project to Chongqing Road Interchange in the west and Tianshui Road in the east, with a total length of about 3 kilometers. The main line crosses Wenchang Road from west to east in the form of viaduct, then crosses Tiger Mountain in the form of tunnel, then sets up interchange to connect Qingyin Expressway, and adds toll stations at the entrance and exit of Qingyin Expressway.
Since entering the site, the construction team of the 14th Bureau of China Railway has systematically planned and rapidly deployed with the attitude of "starting is sprint, starting is decisive battle", and comprehensively accelerated the construction progress by holding labor competitions and other measures.
Tangshan Road Tunnel is the key control node project of this project. The total length of the tunnel is 1.15 kilometers. The main line is designed with two tunnels and eight lanes. It integrates super-large section and super-small clear distance. The largest section has a net span of 32 meters and a height of 19 meters, which is equivalent to the height of a six-storey building. It is the largest span traffic tunnel in Asia at present. The tunnel is also the most frequently changed tunnel in this project, with the largest excavation section of 480 square meters, which is larger than a standard basketball court.
"During the construction process, we excavate the tunnel by double-side heading method, while ensuring the safety of the construction of the super-large cross-section tunnel, we improve the efficiency of the tunnel excavation, and ensure the safe passage of the construction of the super-small net-spac e tunnel and reduce the disturbance of the construction to the adjacent tunnel by means of grouting reinforcement and setting up opposite anchor rods to assist in bearing." Chen Xitong, head of Tangshan Road Tunnel Project of the 14th Bureau of China Railway, said that the next project team will plan scientifically, optimize the construction team, and speed up the construction progress in an all-round way on the premise of ensuring safety and quality.
