Cadmium telluride power generation glass has a strong ability to absorb light (absorb 94% of visible light), which can solve the light pollution of glass curtain walls. It has a low cost (the material is 2 microns thick), direct band gap semiconductor cadmium telluride; curtain walls are profitable (create economic value), indirect band gap semiconductor crystalline silicon.
Pan Jingong said that the research and development of cadmium telluride power generation glass has solved four major problems in the domestic industrial field. The first is the purification of elemental materials: the physical and chemical properties of tellurium and key impurities such as arsenic and selenium, such as deposition potential and saturated vapor pressure, are close, and it is extremely difficult to remove and separate impurities from raw materials containing tellurium and high-purity tellurium. The second is the preparation of semiconductor alloy: cadmium telluride alloy has high vapor pressure in the preparation process, the product segregation is serious, and it is very easy to explode. The third is the development of coating process: it is difficult to control the temperature field when coating on a large area of substrate glass, and the substrate deformation caused by gravity and high temperature coupling can not achieve uniform coating. The fourth is the design of complete equipment: in the process of dynamic continuous coating, there are defects inside the film and between the interfaces of different films, which makes it difficult to achieve stable mass production.
