In 2022, the scale of China's photovoltaic equipment industry exceeded 65 billion yuan, an increase of 62.5% over the previous year.

(I) Development

of China's photovoltaic equipment industry in 2022 In 2022, China's major photovoltaic enterprises released large-scale photovoltaic capacity expansion plans, covering silicon rods, wafers, batteries, modules and other industrial chains. Driven by the momentum of production

expansion, orders from related equipment manufacturers continue to grow.

In 2022, the scale of China's photovoltaic equipment industry exceeded 65 billion yuan, an increase of 62.5% over the same period last year. In terms of

industry, the sales revenue of photovoltaic equipment enterprises in China continues to grow. The iteration of advanced technologies such as large size, thin sheet and SMBB, as well as the attention of capital to high-efficiency battery technologies such as TOPCon and HJT, have also become the main logic of capacity expansion in the industry. It has been difficult to find non-domestic photovoltaic manufacturing equipment in China's market.

At the same time, the overseas export of photovoltaic equipment enterprises grew rapidly, India, the United States, Turkey and other overseas markets ushered in a new round of expansion of production, and a number of leading photovoltaic enterprises in China accelerated the construction of integrated production capacity in Southeast Asia and other regions, bringing a large number of overseas orders for photovoltaic equipment manufacturing enterprises in China. The profitability of

equipment enterprises has been restored to a certain extent, and there is a certain differentiation among enterprises. More and more equipment enterprises begin to adopt diversified technology routes and develop towards cross-link, multi-route and integrated solution providers. Some silicon material equipment manufacturers continued to expand new businesses such as silicon wafer foundry and achieved more revenue.

In the field of technology development, China's photovoltaic equipment enterprises have developed from silicon material production, silicon wafer processing, production of photovoltaic cells and component equipment to the corresponding pure water preparation, environmental protection treatment, construction of purification projects, and testing equipment and simulators corresponding to the photovoltaic industry chain. Some products such as cleaning equipment, texturing machine, diffusion furnace, oxidation annealing furnace, LPCVD, tubular PECVD, printing machine, single crystal furnace, series welding machine, laminating machine, testing and automation equipment have been basically nationalized and exported to varying degrees.

In 2022, the photovoltaic industry gradually determined the new trend of taking N-type large-size silicon wafers and TOPCon batteries as the main technical path, which brought about changes in related equipment fields, including the cumulative production capacity of TOPCon battery production line of about 80 GW. The planned production capacity reached 190GW, and the investment cost of TOPCon battery production line was rapidly reduced to about 190,000 yuan/MW. Since the second half of the year, the new TOPCon battery production line, rather than PERC production line, has become the mainstream choice.

In addition, new battery technology routes such as HJT and perovskite have also made great progress, the proportion of equipment localization has increased rapidly, and the cost has decreased significantly.

(2) Prospects

for the development of photovoltaic equipment industry in 2022 Looking forward to 2023, the development of photovoltaic equipment industry will present the following characteristics. The continuous production expansion of

photovoltaic manufacturing enterprises has brought new market space to photovoltaic equipment companies. The logic of production expansion includes the landing of production capacity of N-type silicon wafers and high-efficiency batteries, the upgrade of existing battery production capacity to TOPCon production capacity, the upgrade of large-size production capacity and the need for other technological upgrades.

Foreign photovoltaic equipment manufacturers will continue to lose market share, after domestic equipment basically fully occupies the market in the field of crystalline silicon battery equipment, thin film batteries and perovskite will become the target of Chinese equipment enterprises.

At the same time, equipment manufacturing will further develop towards high productivity and efficient automation, and lead the transformation from photovoltaic "manufacturing" to photovoltaic "intelligent manufacturing".

In addition, it is expected that photovoltaic equipment will further feed back the development of the pan-semiconductor field, and China's equipment enterprises will further achieve a breakthrough from photovoltaic silicon wafer equipment to semiconductor silicon wafer equipment on the current basis, and promote the localization of high-end semiconductor equipment.
