2023, the Project Department of Bid 5 of Beijing-Hong Kong-Macao Expressway Reconstruction and Expansion Project, which was constructed by China Railway Bridge Bureau, successfully completed the pouring of the first main pier capping beam, marking a key step in the construction of the substructure of the project.

It is understood that the Beijing-Hong Kong-Macao Reconstruction and Expansion Project Section 5 of the Fuhe River Bridge uses eight sections of steel truss girders. The No.140 main pier capping beam of the Fuhe River Bridge poured this time has two sides of the theoretical span line, namely, the T-beam side and the steel truss side. The steel truss girder with the longest span of 100 meters is used between the 141 main pier capping beam, and the prefabricated T-beam is used between the 139 pier. The difference between the two sides of the beam greatly increases the difficulty of construction.

The project actively organizes the construction. Pier 140 is a column pier, and the pier body is eccentric to the side of the large-span steel truss girder by 20cm, which avoids the problem that the pier is in a state of bending for a long time and the life of the bridge is shortened due to the different bearing forces at both ends of the bearing due to the different spans. The capping beam is 25 meters long, 2.7 meters wide and 4 meters high, using 250.1 cubic meters of C40 concrete and 32.68 tons of steel bars. The whole pouring process lasted for 7 hours , and finally the main pier capping beam was completed. The successful pouring not only accumulated valuable experience for the construction of the main pier capping beam in the subsequent bid section, but also set a benchmark for the construction of the lower structure of the whole project. It is a solid step on the way to rush the construction period of the main river and promote the progress of the project. The main line of Bid 5

of Beijing-Hong Kong-Macao Expressway Reconstruction and Expansion Project is 17.2 kilometers long, starting from Dongyue Village, Maochen Town, Xiaonan District, and ending at Dongxihu Hub Interchange. The construction of the project will improve the traffic capacity of the Beijing-Hong Kong-Macao Expressway, and play an important role in smoothing the national north-south transportation artery, improving and optimizing the expressway network in Hubei Province, and improving the safe operation level of the national transport corridor.
