Excavation of 940 million tons of sand in Dongting Lake! Nearly 70 billion fiscal revenue!

Recently, Hunan Hanshou Jinda Sandstone Co., Ltd. issued a river sand mining announcement. Since October 21, 2023, the Hanshou mining area of Dongting Lake in Hunan Province has been officially exploited. In addition, other areas of Dongting Lake have been exploited before, and the new round of planned 942.69 million tons of river sand in Hunan Province has been speeded up. In September

this year, the Hunan Provincial Water Resources Department officially issued the "Sand Mining Planning for the Main Stream of yuanli and Dongting Lake in Hunan Province (2023-2027)", and 26 mining areas were planned for the Main Stream of yuanli and Dongting Lake in Hunan Province (2023-2027), with a total of 942.69 million tons of river sand planned for five years. It is expected to bring nearly 70 billion yuan of fiscal revenue, which will bring considerable benefits to the governments of the main stream of Hunan Province and the surrounding areas of Dongting Lake. The total amount of sand mining control during the mining area delimitation and planning period in

each region is as follows:

◇ 7 mining areas in Yueyang City, totaling 254.73 million tons;

◇ 6 mining areas in Yiyang City, totaling 243.59 million tons;

◇ There are 6 mining areas in Changde City, totaling 435.91 million tons;

◇ There are 5 mining areas in Hengyang City, totaling 5.25 million tons;

◇ There are 1 mining area in Zhuzhou City and 1 mining area in Shaoyang City, totaling 3.21 million tons.

It is worth noting that from the planning point of view, the total amount of sand mining in Hanshou County is 120 million tons, which is expected to bring nearly 9 billion yuan of financial revenue. In the

last round of sand mining planning, the total amount of sand mining in Hanshou County was only 64 million tons, and the amount of river sand mining increased by 56 million tons. The main area of this

plan is Dongting Lake. The total amount of mineable sand in Changde, Yueyang and Yiyang around Dongting Lake is 933.23 million tons, accounting for 99% of the total planned mineable river sand, which is expected to bring more than 60 billion yuan of financial revenue.

In terms of the price of river sand in Dongting Lake area,

Jinda Sandstone Co., Ltd. of Hanshou County issued two price adjustment announcements in May and August 2022 (no new price announcement was issued in 2023). In June, the price of river sand was adjusted to 75 yuan/ton, 50 yuan/ton for small pebbles, 38 yuan/ton for large pebbles, 40 yuan/ton for mixed pebbles, and 2 yuan/ton for mixed pebbles and small pebbles in August.

In addition, Hunan Nandongting Sandstone Management Co., Ltd., located in Xiangyin County, Yueyang City, Hunan Province, issued a price adjustment announcement in October 2022 (no price adjustment announcement was issued in 2023). The announcement shows that the company's river sand sales price in Yipotang mining area is adjusted to 85 yuan/ton, and the river sand sales price in Doumizui mining area is 100 yuan/ton.

In recent years, more and more sediment has been transported to Dongting Lake by the four major tributaries of the Xiangjiang River. With human activities and climate change, the area of Dongting Lake has become smaller and smaller, and the navigation conditions are not stable enough. Proper exploitation of sand and stone in Dongting Lake can not only maintain the water level and reservoir capacity of Dongting Lake, but also benefit the waterway and flood discharge and water storage, and promote the economic development of the areas along the line. With the formal mining of Hanshou mining area and other mining areas in Changde City, a new round of 942.69 million tons of river sand mining in Hunan Province has begun.
