The announcement said that considering the consumption of building glass in East African countries and the import substitution of local production capacity, the company agreed to invest US $86.7627 million in the construction of Tanzania's building glass production project. Keda (Tanzania) Ceramics Company Limited or the new subsidiary of the joint venture company in Africa will contribute USD 34.7627 million as the main body of project implementation, and commercial banks or financial institutions will provide loans of USD 52 million.
University of Science and Technology Manufacturing introduced that the project plans to build a building glass production line with a daily capacity of 600 tons to produce building glass with a thickness of 3-12 mm and specifications of 3300 * 2140mm to 3660 * 2800 (including white glass, blue glass/film, tea glass/film and other products).
With the steady growth of African economy, population growth, real estate development and other favorable factors, Africa's demand for building materials is increasing year by year, taking into account the lack of glass production capacity in Tanzania and surrounding countries, combined with the current market capacity and market follow-up growth and other comprehensive factors. Grasping the current window period to build a glass production line is conducive to realizing the import substitution of the glass market in Tanzania and the surrounding countries of East Africa and seizing the market opportunities.
Since 2016, the company has invested and built 14 production lines of building ceramics in five African countries, all of which have been put into operation smoothly, and 8 production lines are under construction. This project can learn from the company's rich experience in investing and building factories in Africa, and make full use of the channel advantages of overseas building materials sector to expand the market and enrich the company's building materials. Promote the sustainable development of the overseas building materials sector with the local urbanization in Africa.
This project is located in Tanzania, which is a member of the East African Community and the South African Community, with strong regional radiation capacity, and the products can be radiated to Kenya, Uganda, Zambia and other neighboring countries. In 2018, the company invested and operated two building ceramics production lines in Tanzania, familiar with the local economic, social and cultural environment, to ensure the stable supply of various production factors, the glass project team has rich experience in industry production, to ensure the smooth progress of the project; At the same time, the construction project is close to the building ceramics production project, which can share some resources, improve the efficiency of project management and reduce production costs.
