On June 19, the 2023 World New Energy Expo opened in Changzhou, Jiangsu Province. At the opening ceremony, Hurun Research Institute released the "2023 Hurun China New Energy Industry Agglomeration Cities List", announcing the top 50 Chinese cities with the highest concentration of new energy industry.
According to the list, Shenzhen, Shanghai, Suzhou, Beijing and Changzhou were rated as the top five cities with the highest concentration of new energy industry in China, while Guangzhou, Wuhan, Chengdu, Tianjin and Hefei ranked in the top ten. Shanghai, Beijing, Shenzhen, Tianjin and Suzhou are the five cities with the highest concentration of high-quality new energy enterprises; Shenzhen, Shanghai, Dongguan, Beijing and Guangzhou are the five cities with the highest concentration of small and medium-sized new energy enterprises; Changzhou, Wuhan, Ordos, Guangzhou and Chongqing are the five cities with the highest concentration of new energy investment.
In terms of provincial distribution, the number of cities in Jiangsu, Guangdong, Shandong and Zhejiang occupied the top four. Jiangsu has the largest number of cities on the list, with 10, accounting for one fifth of the list, followed by Guangdong, with seven cities, Shandong and Zhejiang, with four cities on the list.
Among the top 50 cities , East China has the largest number of cities on the list, accounting for 50%, followed by South China, accounting for 16%, North China, accounting for 14%, Central China and Southwest China, accounting for 6%, Northwest China and Northeast China, accounting for 4%. "For cities, the new energy industry is an important engine to promote regional economic transformation and sustainable development," said Rupert Hoogewerf, chairman and chief research officer
of Hurun Report. The degree of agglomeration of new energy enterprises not only reflects the city's innovation ability and industrial environment, but also directly affects the city's development potential and competitiveness. Cities that can seize the opportunities of new energy industry will occupy a better position on China's wealth map in the future. Our list aims to recognize cities that have made outstanding achievements in the field of new energy, and to encourage more cities to pay attention to and invest in the new energy industry and jointly promote the realization of sustainable development.
"2023 Hurun China New Energy Industry Agglomeration Cities List" was released
. "In this year's list, Changzhou deserves special attention. Changzhou ranked fourth, up one place from last year, and is still the only second-tier city in the top ten. More importantly, Changzhou ranks first in the country in the dimension of investment heat concentration, reflecting that the city has a certain influence in the field of new energy and has great potential for development.
Changzhou not only has the headquarters-based chain-leading enterprises such as China Innovation Airlines, Honeycomb Energy and Trina Solar Energy, but also has more than 70% of the domestic chain-leading enterprises in the sub-sectors such as Ningde Times, Ideal Automobile-W, BYD, Bertray and Star Source Materials. For example, in the Ningde era, the largest production base in the Yangtze River Delta region is located in Changzhou, and the largest production and manufacturing base of Ideal Automobile in China is also located in Changzhou.
At present, Changzhou has formed an industrial ecological closed-loop of "sending, storing, delivering and researching", and the production and sales of vehicles and power batteries account for half of the whole Jiangsu Province.
At the same time, for the cities with obvious decline in ranking, Hurun said: "This does not mean that they have regressed in the field of new energy, but when other cities are developing new energy industry in full swing, the pace of these cities is slower and the action is less. The decline in ranking is actually the result of not advancing or falling behind."
