Up to now, Xiangtan Port has 8 cargo wharfs, 3 sand and gravel distribution center base wharfs and 22 berths, including 5 berths of 2000 tons and 17 berths of 1000 tons, occupying 2250 meters of cargo shoreline (excluding 14 general wharfs to be transferred to passenger transport). At present, the port mainly transports dry bulk cargo such as coal, iron ore and general cargo such as steel.

The Plan clearly States that, according to administrative divisions and considering the port foundation and continuity, Xiangtan Port will plan four port areas in the future, of which Tieniubu Port Area and Jiuhua Port Area are the core port areas, Yisuhe Port Area is an important port area, and Xiangxiang Port Area is a general port area, which will cover freight operation areas, freight ports, passenger transport and support system ports.
