the State Administration for Market Regulation disclosed Wednesday.
The announcement shows that Mercedes-Benz (China) Automobile Sales Co., Ltd. recalled some imported C-class, CLK, CLS and E-class vehicles from August 6, 2003 to July 13, 2010, totaling 13373 vehicles. Beijing Benz Automobile Co., Ltd. recalled 7367 domestic C-class and E-class vehicles from July 9, 2004 to March 20, 2009. Some vehicles within the scope of this
recall may be separated from the vehicle due to insufficient bonding durability between the sliding skylight glass panel and the skylight frame, which increases the risk of accidents or injuries to other road users, and there are potential safety hazards. In other words, when the vehicle is running or stationary, the overhead glass may fall off.
It is reported that Mercedes-Benz (China) Automobile Sales Co., Ltd. and Beijing Mercedes-Benz Automobile Co., Ltd. will check the production date of skylights and the adhesion of skylight glass panels for vehicles within the recall scope through authorized Mercedes-Benz dealers. If the adhesion does not meet the requirements, the sliding skylights will be replaced free of charge to eliminate potential safety hazards.
This recall belongs to the expanded recall of Mercedes-Benz (China) Automobile Sales Co., Ltd. and Beijing Mercedes-Benz Automobile Co., Ltd. issued on April 17, 2020 to recall some imported and domestic C-class, CLK-class, CLS-class and E-class automobiles. Mercedes-Benz (China) Automobile Sales Co., Ltd. and Beijing Mercedes-Benz Automobile Co., Ltd. will notify relevant users of the recall by registered letters. At the same time, through follow-up investigation, it will be confirmed that the scope of defective products needs to be expanded.
