Brazil Decides to Continue to Impose Anti-dumping Duties on Chinese Auto Glass

Brazil made the final ruling of the first anti-dumping sunset review on Chinese automobile glass, and decided to continue to impose anti-dumping duties on Chinese products involved in the case for a period of five years, with a tax amount of US $475.15-2761.35 per metric ton.

On February 17,

2023, the Management Executive Committee of the Foreign Trade Commission of the Ministry of Economy of Brazil (GECEX) issued Resolution No.450 of 2023, making the first final anti-dumping sunset review ruling on automobile glass (Portuguese: Decided to continue to impose anti-dumping duties on China's products involved in the case for a period of five years, with the amount of US $475.15-2761.35 per metric ton . See the attached table for details of the duties. The MERCOSUR customs codes of the products involved are 7007.11.00, 7007.19.00, 7007.21.00, 7007.29.000, 8708.29.99 and 8708.22.00.

The following products are not subject to tax: 1. Armoured glass; 2. Toughened and laminated glass, suitable for motorcycles, mopeds, motorcycles, tricycles, four-wheeled vehicles, wheeled or tracked tractors, seeders, harvesters, cranes, lifting platforms, multi-purpose cranes, off-highway dump trucks, backhoe loaders, non-self-propelled mechanical cockpits, locomotives, aircraft and ships; 3. motorize solar roof glazing for automobile and light commercial vehicles; and 4. rear door glazing (for luggage compartments) for automobile. 2016, the Ministry of Industry and Foreign Trade of Brazil issued the Announcement No.1 of 2016 of the Secretariat of Foreign Trade in the Official Gazette, which initiated an anti-dumping investigation on automobile glass originating in China in response to the application submitted by the Brazilian Glass Industry Association. On February 17, 2017, Brazil made an affirmative final ruling on the case and decided to impose anti-dumping duties of US $475.15-2761.35 per metric ton on Chinese products involved in the case. On February 17, 2022, the Secretariat of Foreign Trade of Brazil issued Announcement No.7 of 2022 in the Federal Government Gazette, saying that in response to the application submitted by the Brazilian Association of Automatic Glass Industry Technology, the first anti-dumping sunset review investigation on automotive glass originating in China was launched.
