On February 17, Gansu Provincial Department of Water Resources and Gansu Agricultural University jointly formed a working group to investigate the management of sand mining in Wushan County, Tianshui City, accompanied by the relevant leaders of the Municipal Water Affairs Bureau and Wushan County Water Affairs Bureau. The
research team went to yuanyang Sand Yard in Wushan County, yuanyang Weihe River Bridge, Yangping Town of Bangsha River and Danan River dredging section to inspect the construction of pilot sand yards, river dredging and river regulation, and then held a discussion and exchange in yuanyang Sand Yard.
The research team fully affirmed the pilot work of sand mining in Wushan County. Since Wushan County was listed as the provincial river sand mining pilot county by the Provincial Department of Water Resources in 2022, the sand mining pilot work in Wushan County has been steadily advancing: new sand yards, preparation of dredging plans, introduction of unified management plans, and formulation of various management systems. The work has been in the forefront of eight pilot sand mining counties in the province, and has accumulated experience for Tianshui City to explore a unified management model.
The investigation team emphasized that sand mining is the difficulty and focus of river and lake management, and most of the cases involving water are reported as illegal sand mining. It is necessary to analyze and judge in time, find out the entry point of river sand mining management, focus on solving management problems, strengthen the idea of "a chess game", and combine the river and lake length system with the responsibility system of sand mining management. We should adhere to the linkage mechanism of sand mining management, which is led by the water conservancy department, coordinated by relevant departments and supervised by the society, so as to form a joint force of river sand mining supervision. We should sum up experience and lessons, learn more from brotherly cities and States, study the latest policies, strive for support from superiors, further promote the pilot work of river sand mining, and strive to create beautiful and happy rivers and lakes.
