Changsha starts 4 new track projects this year

This year, Changsha Metro has entered a period of rapid development, while five lines are under construction. By the end of June, the first phase of the West Ring Line of Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan Intercity Rail Transit is planned to open, and four new lines will be started, namely, the Changsha-Ningxiang Maglev Express Line, the Changsha-Liuyang Maglev Express Line, the north extension of Changsha Metro Line 4 and the south extension of Changsha Metro Line 5.

On May 27, the annual meeting of Changsha Rail Transit Development Research Association and the Forum on High-quality Development of Rail Transit were successfully held from 2022 to 2023.

It is reported that Changsha has opened seven urban rail transit lines with a total mileage of 209 kilometers. Especially during the May Day holiday this year, the total passenger flow of Changsha Metro Network set a new record with 3.742 million passengers, and the passenger transport intensity ranked first in the country.

Changning Maglev Express

Line Changning Express Line starts from Ningxiang West high-speed rail Station, mainly along Huaming Road-Dengyun Road-Jinqiao Avenue-Jinzhou Avenue-Fenglin Road, and ends at Changqing Station at the intersection of Dongfanghong Road and Fenglin West Road (connecting Changsha Metro Line 6). The total length of

the line is 38.98 kilometers (32.51 kilometers of elevated line and 6.3 kilometers of underground line), with 13 stations (7 elevated stations and 6 underground stations).

The line can not only realize convenient transfer with Line 2 and Line 6, but also plan to reserve interconnection conditions with S2 (West Station-Liuyang Express Line), which can realize the connection operation between Ningxiang-Changsha City-Liuyang in the future.

Changning Express Line has four stations in Lugu New Area, together with the West Extension Phase II of Line 2 currently under construction, Lugu New Area is about to usher in the era of double metro.

At present, Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan multi-level rail transit planning has been approved, Changning Express Line is expected to start construction in 2023, and passenger operation is planned for 2027.

Changliu Maglev Express

Line starts from T3 Terminal of Huanghua Airport and ends at Liuyang Guankou Station. It is mainly laid along Jincheng Avenue, Liuyong Highway, Fireworks Avenue and Liuyang Avenue.

The line is planned at one time and implemented in sections. The first section (T3 Station-Jiaoxi Station) is constructed in advance. The line is 26.2 kilometers long, with 7 stations (including 1 reserved station) and Jiaoxi parking lot.

The whole line is mainly laid overhead, while the urban section of Liuyang is mainly laid underground, which can transfer with Changsha Metro Line 6, Line 10, Changsha South Station and Liuyang Station of Changgan high-speed rail. The total length of the line is 48.2 kilometers, with 12 stations (including one reserved station), a gateway depot and a Jiaoxi parking lot.

At present, the adjustment plan of the third phase construction plan of Changsha Rail Transit has been approved, and the construction of the North Extension Line of Line 4 is about to start.

It is reported that the total length of the north extension project of Changsha Metro Line 4 is about 15.26 km, all of which are laid underground. There are 9 stations (Tongxin Road Station is being optimized and adjusted), all of which are underground stations, with an average distance of 1.67 km.

The project has a Wangcheng parking lot, located on the north side of Huangqiao Avenue and the west side of Leifeng Avenue, and a main transformer on Purui Avenue, located on the northeast side of the intersection of Jinxing North Road and North Third Ring Road.

Changsha Metro Line 5 South Extension

Line 5 South Extension Project has a total length of about 8.43 km, all of which are underground lines. There are 7 stations with an average distance of about 1.2 km, including two transfer stations, namely, Central Square Station (transfer with Line 1) and Environmental Protection Avenue Station (transfer with Line 7). Some stations of the South Extension Line of Line

5 have been adjusted. Combined with the surrounding buildings, Guoziyuan Station has been adjusted from Tuozichong intersection to the intersection of Environmental Protection Avenue, and Yangguangyuan Station has been moderately moved northward. After the

adjustment, the location of each station has been basically determined. Xinxing Road Station is located at the intersection of Wanjiali South Road and Xinxing Road; Jinhai Road Station is located at the intersection of Environmental Protection Middle Road and Jinhai Road.

Environmental Protection Avenue Station is located at the intersection of Environmental Protection Middle Road and Huijin Road; Guoziyuan Station is located at the intersection of Environmental Protection West Road and Guoziyuan Road; Zhongxin Square Station is located at the intersection of Furong South Road and Zhongyi Second Road; Yangguangyuan Station is located near Yangguangyuan Community; Datuo East Station is located in the east of the originally planned Datuo Airport (now relocated).
