Com Comércioe Servi Serviços/Secretaria de Com Comércio Exterior, In response to the application submitted by the Brazilian Association of Automatic Glass Industry Technology (Abividro) on February 24, 2022, an anti-circumvention investigation was launched on automotive glass (Portuguese: vidros automotivos) originating in China. Examine whether there are trade practices that circumvent the effectiveness of existing anti-dumping measures. The products under review were imported glass (Portuguese: l'lâminas ou placas de vidro) and polyvinyl butyral sheets [ (folhas de poli (butiral de vinila)] used in the glass laminating process. The MERCOSUR customs codes of the products involved are 7006.00.00 and 3920.91.00. The investigation period of this case is from April 2021 to March 2022, and the damage investigation period is from April 2016 to March 2022. Unless otherwise extended (up to 3 months), the final ruling will be made within 6 months. The announcement shall take effect from the date of publication.

On January 11, 2016, the Ministry of Industry and Foreign Trade of Brazil published in the Official Gazette the Secretariat of Foreign Trade Notice No.1 of 2016. In response to the application submitted by the Brazilian Glass Industry Association, an anti-dumping investigation was launched on automobile glass originating in China. On February 17, 2017, Brazil made an affirmative final ruling on the case and decided to impose anti-dumping duties of US $475.15-2761.35 per metric ton on Chinese products involved in the case. On February 17, 2022, the Secretariat of Foreign Trade of Brazil issued Announcement No.7 of 2022 in the Federal Government Gazette, saying that in response to the application submitted by the Brazilian Association of Automatic Glass Industry Technology, the first anti-dumping sunset review investigation on automotive glass originating in China was launched. On February 17, 2023, the Executive Committee of the Foreign Trade Commission of the Ministry of Economy of Brazil (GECEX) issued Resolution No.450 of 2023, which made the first final anti-dumping sunset review ruling on automobile glass originating in China, and decided to continue imposing anti-dumping duties on Chinese products involved for a period of five years. The tax is $475.15 to $2761.35 per metric ton. The MERCOSUR customs codes of the products involved are 7007.11.00, 7007.19.00, 7007.21.00, 7007.29.000, 8708.29.99 and 8708.22.00.
The following products are not subject to tax:
1. Armoured glass.
2. Toughened and laminated glass for motorcycles, mopeds, motorcycles, tricycles, quadricycles, wheeled or tracked tractors, seeders, harvesters, cranes, lifting platforms, utility cranes, off-highway dump trucks, backhoe loaders, non-self-propelled machinery cockpits, locomotives, aircraft and ships.
3. Electric solar sunroof glass for automobiles and light commercial vehicles.
4. Automotive rear door glass (for boot).
