According to the China Daily of Thailand, the Thai government recently banned the export of natural sand and gravel to foreign countries. The bill submitted by the Ministry of Commerce aims to give priority to meeting the production needs of the domestic sand and gravel industry. For research purposes, a maximum of 2 kg is allowed for export.
It is reported that Ms. Ratchada, Deputy Spokesperson of the Prime Minister's Office of Thailand, said that a ban on the export of natural sand and gravel was approved at the regular cabinet meeting on Tuesday. Under the ban, all trade activities involving the export of sand and gravel will also be strictly controlled, whether it is quartz sand or silica sand with high temperature resistance . Only a small amount is allowed to be exported for scientific research projects, and the weight shall not exceed 2 kilograms.

What is natural sand?
Natural sand and gravel are generally directly mined from natural sand and gravel resources through screening. Sand and stone collected from rivers, mountains and seas are usually called river sand, mountain sand and sea sand, or natural sand, which is a kind of natural mineral resources.
"Natural sand": from the point of view of use, silica sand and quartz sand, used in the construction industry, glass industry or clean metal. Earthy sands, including kaolin sands, are mainly used in the manufacture of casting moulds and refractory products; feldspar sands are used in the ceramics industry. Natural sands which have been heat-treated for the removal of impurities shall remain in this heading.
River sand is mostly used in construction, concrete, cementitious materials, road construction materials, artificial marble, cement physical properties testing materials (cement standard sand) and so on. River sand can also be used for sand removal, rust removal, strengthening, forming, stress relief and surface cleaning and coating of various profiles in the fields of casting, metallurgy, heat treatment, steel structure, frame structure, building, bridge, mine, etc. At present, legal river sand quarries in China must obtain the "river sand mining license" issued by the water conservancy department.
Quartz sand is widely used in glass, casting, ceramics and refractory materials, smelting ferrosilicon, metallurgy, construction, chemical industry, plastics, rubber, abrasives and filter materials and other industries. It is also an ideal material for modern track and field, football field, golf course and other artificial venues.
Sea sand is the sand and stone in the sea, which is mainly used as the main raw material for machinery and foundry molding sand. It can also be used for grinding materials, sand removal, rust removal, oxide skin removal, ceramic and refractory treatment, etc.
