MIT have recently developed an ultra-thin and lightweight photovoltaic cell.
Its weight is one percent of that of traditional photovoltaic panels, but its power generation per kilogram is 18 times that of traditional photovoltaic panels! And can be produced on a large scale through a printing process!
This ultra-thin and lightweight photovoltaic cell can be attached to the surface of many objects. For example, it can be attached to sails to provide power , adhered to tents for disaster relief , and even easily installed on building surfaces.
