On February 1, the largest diameter single-tube double-deck shield tunnel in China, which was constructed by the 14th Bureau of China Railway, was successfully completed.
This connection provides a successful case for opening up the broken road of the city, protecting the relics and scenic spots of the ancient city, and developing and utilizing the underground space.
Wuchang Snake Mountain is located on the east bank of the Yangtze River. It cuts off Heping Avenue at Zhongshan Road, making it a "broken road". As a result, it has to bypass Linjiang Avenue from Zhongshan Road to Zhangzhidong Road, increasing the driving distance by 4.1 kilometers. The south extension line project
of Heping Avenue is constructed by a slurry balance shield machine with an excavation diameter of 16.03 meters, which can realize a single tunnel with six lanes connecting Heping Avenue in the north and Wujindi Road in the south. At that time, vehicles can go directly from Zhongshan Road to Zhangzhidong Road in 5 minutes through the tunnel, which can effectively alleviate the traffic pressure in the east-west direction of Wuchang and greatly improve the efficiency of urban traffic.
However, it is not easy to get through this "broken road".
Difficulty 1: Crossing multiple risk sources
Workers operate cranes to install segments
. As it is located in the core area of the city, the tunnel faces multiple major risk sources during excavation. The tunnel passes through the ancient city of Wuchang, Beijing-Guangzhou Railway and other places. There are more than 500 old buildings and many former residences of celebrities on the line. The second
difficulty is that the geological conditions are complex
. The geological conditions of shield tunneling of the formed tunnel
are complex, including hard rock, soft and hard uneven strata and karst cave areas. The rate of karst cave is as high as 40.5%. The maximum rock strength was as high as 200 MPa, and the cutter was replaced several times during the shield tunneling.
Difficulty 3: The parallel operation subway
is only 10 meters away from the tunnel of Metro Line 5 in operation. The shield hard rock excavation is easy to disturb the forming tunnel of Metro Line 5. It is one of the tunnels with high construction technology and difficulty in China.
In view of the above engineering characteristics, difficulties and risks, the shield of the 14th Bureau of China Railway has given full play to its core technical advantages, designed and optimized the shield machine, and invited academicians and experts such as Qian Qihu, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, to guide and check the construction problems. In the process of
shield
tunneling, the construction team applied automatic monitoring construction technology, set observation points for sensitive buildings and structures along the line, monitored settlement data in real time, and synchronously adjusted tunneling parameters to achieve safe and stable crossing.
It is reported that the South Extension Project of Heping Avenue in Wuhan is scheduled to be completed and opened to traffic by the end of 2023, which will effectively improve the traffic conditions of the ancient city of Wuchang, alleviate the traffic pressure of Zhongshan Road-Baishazhou Avenue, and form a backbone traffic channel along the Yangtze River in Wuchang.
