TOPCon is a foregone conclusion

On May 25, Jingke Energy issued a series of announcements concerning the sale of subsidiaries, investment in new projects, and the use of raised funds.

According to the announcement, Jingke Energy plans to sell 100% of its wholly-owned subsidiary Xinjiang Jingke Energy Co., Ltd. to Ziyang Major Industrial Equity Investment Fund Partnership (Limited Partnership) (hereinafter referred to as "Heavy Production Fund") and Chairman Dong of Shijing Science and Technology at a price of 4.3 billion yuan. The subject jointly designated by Shi Hong.

At the same time, Jingke Energy also announced a total investment plan of 56 billion yuan, and planned to build a large vertical integration base project with an annual output of 56 GW in Shanxi Transition Comprehensive Reform Demonstration Zone.

The project involves 56 GW monocrystalline rod drawing, 56 GW silicon wafer, 56 GW high-efficiency battery and 56 GW module production capacity . The subsequent construction will be divided into four phases, with a construction period of about two years, and the construction scale of each phase is 14 GW integrated projects of pulling rods, slices, cells and components. The first phase of the project is expected to be put into operation in the first quarter of 2024, the second phase of the project is expected to be put into operation in the second quarter of 2024, and the third and fourth phases of the project are expected to be completed and put into operation in 2025.

As the world's first "super integrated" solar factory including silicon wafers, batteries and components, it will be the largest N-type integrated production base in the industry, and is expected to accelerate the upgrading of the industry to N-type, alleviating the situation of "short supply" of N-type products.

In addition, Jingke Energy also announced that it had raised tens of billions of yuan by issuing convertible corporate bonds to unspecified targets in April. After deducting a series of expenses such as underwriting and sponsorship fees, the net fund raised by the company is 9.968 billion yuan (9,968,108,679.25 yuan), which will be used for the company's battery, photovoltaic module and monocrystalline silicon rod drawing projects. As the first PV module manufacturer to lay out N-type TOPCon products in China, JinkoSolar has previously said that it will lead the industry in the "N-type era" in terms of technology, scale, cost and quality. Recently, a series of actions, such as selling 4.3 billion yuan, building 56 billion factories and raising 10 billion yuan, seem to confirm JinkoSolar's previous commitments.

At present, the average mass production conversion efficiency of mainstream PERC batteries is about 23.5%, which is approaching the efficiency limit. As an iterative technology of PERC batteries, the efficiency of N-type batteries has great potential to improve, the investment cost has been continuously reduced, and the conversion efficiency has exceeded the average of 24%. Among them, the mass production efficiency of N-type TOPCon batteries has reached more than 25%, CITIC Construction Investment said in a recent research report. In terms of

technical advantages, Li Na, chief engineer of Northwest Electric Power Design Institute of China Electric Power Engineering Consulting Group, summed it up as "four high and four low"- "four high" refers to high power, high efficiency, high double-sided rate and high power generation, and "four low" refers to low attenuation, low temperature coefficient, low BOS (system cost) and low LCOE (levelized cost per kilowatt hour).

"N-type TOPCon technology is the most economical, mature and efficient battery and component technology at present." Zang Pengfei, general manager of Jingke Energy Technology Service Center, summed it up.

Based on the advantages of N-type TOPCon technology, Jingke Energy has taken the lead in laying out N-type technology early, and plans to show its skills again in the new photovoltaic battlefield.

As early as 2021, Jingke Energy took the lead in breaking the world record of TOPCon batteries four times, reaching 25.4%, and achieved breakthroughs in many industrial difficulties such as winding and plating, and began to promote the industrialization of TOPCon. In November of

the same year, Jingke released TigerNeo components with N-type technology, officially announcing that N-type technology is moving towards the era of mass production. In December

2022, the conversion efficiency of JinkoSolar's 182mm and above large-area N-type TOPCon batteries reached 26.4%. At the same time, the battery yield has been basically the same as that of PERC batteries, and the corresponding power of 72 N-type modules is about 575 W, which is 20-25 W higher than that of P-type modules, an increase of more than 4.5%.

Then in January 2023, JinkoSolar released the second generation of TigerNeo modules. Up to now, the average mass production efficiency of JinkoSolar N-type TOPCon batteries has reached 25.1% .

In 2022, Jinko module shipments reached 44.33 GW, of which N-type module shipments exceeded 10GW. As a result, Jingke has become the world's first component company with annual shipments of N-type products exceeding 10g W level, leading the industry.

With the steady and rapid advancement of technology, Jinko TOPCon production capacity is accelerating its construction.

By the end of 2022, JinkoSolar has put into production the largest N-type battery capacity in the industry, totaling 35 GW , and has taken the lead in establishing its position as the industry's N-type leader.

At the same time, according to incomplete statistics, the company has N-type battery construction projects in Haining, Fengcheng, Anhui, Feidong, Chuxiong, Yiwu and other places, including the 56 billion N-type integration project, Jingke Energy N-type construction projects total 108.5G W cells, 64GW components.

"It is expected that by the end of 2023, the production capacity of (JinkoSolar) monocrystalline silicon wafers, high-efficiency batteries and modules will reach 75GW, 75GW and 90GW respectively." Li Xiande, chairman and CEO of Jingke Energy, said. At the same time, N-type components will become the main shipping force in 2023, accounting for more than 60% from 25% in 2022.

"TOPCon is a foregone conclusion." Li Xiande made the final decision in his speech in April this year.
