The Yangtze River Commission and the Hubei Provincial Water Resources Department and other units launched a joint law enforcement action on river sand mining.

From May 8 to 11, the Yangtze River Water Resources Commission, together with the Water Resources Department of Hubei Province and other relevant departments and bureaus, the Yangtze River Shipping Public Security Bureau of the Ministry of Public Security and the Yangtze River Navigation Administration of the Ministry of Transport, launched a joint law enforcement action on river sand mining.

The Joint Inspection Unit inspects the centralized berthing (detention) points of sand-related vessels along the way by water law enforcement vessels, checks whether the sand-carrying vessels hold legal certificates of sand and gravel sources, and inspects the use of video surveillance system, site supervision accounts and inspection records, and the use of sand and gravel mining management sheets in the three planned mining areas under implementation. Check the detained invisible sand dredgers to find out whether some ship repair factories along the way are involved in the construction and refitting of sand-related ships. The Joint Inspection Unit heard reports from Wuhan, Ezhou, Huangshi, Huanggang and related districts and counties on the management of sand mining in the Yangtze River.

The joint law enforcement action lasted four days and was organized by the Office of the Leading Group of River Sand Mining Management in Hubei Province, covering rivers, lakes, reservoirs and artificial waterways with sand mining management tasks throughout the province.
