On January 12, the People's Government of Manas County held a signing ceremony with Xinjiang Lixin Energy Co., Ltd. and Xinjiang Guangdong Hydropower Energy Co., Ltd. to jointly promote the construction of the 1 million kilowatt photovoltaic base project in Manas County and promote high-quality economic development.
The contracted project, with a total investment of 6.5 billion yuan, plans to build two 500000 kilowatt photovoltaic + energy storage fields and two 220 kilovolt gathering stations in North Wucha Town and Liuhudi Town of Manas County. Wang Bo, chairman of

Compared with coal-fired power plants of the same scale, it can save 500,000 tons of standard coal and reduce 1.29 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions every year, making a positive contribution to the local economic development and energy structure transformation."
Manas County has abundant sunshine and land resources, with a total annual sunshine hours of 2569 hours. It has 250000 mu of state-owned unused land, which can carry about 40 gigawatts of photovoltaic installed capacity. It has obvious advantages in the development of new energy industry. The annual runoff of rivers in the county is about 1.6 billion cubic meters, which has the advantages of hydropower generation and pumped storage development. At the same time, with the integration of Shihezi City and Manas County entering a new stage, the demand for green electricity substitution is increasing year by year, and the potential for absorption is huge, which provides a huge market for Manas County's power output.
It is understood that in 2022, Manas County has made important breakthroughs in the development of new energy industry, completed the compilation and evaluation of photovoltaic development planning with a total installed capacity of 10 gigawatts and the declaration of 11 photovoltaic projects with a total investment of 50 billion yuan, and invested 7 billion yuan in the construction of two photovoltaic power generation projects with a total investment of 1.4 gigawatts. The two pumped storage projects of Manas River and Taxi River have been included in the "14th Five-Year" key project planning of the autonomous region.
