An innovative

Czech company specializing in robotic construction has developed the first tram station made of ultra-high performance concrete (UHPC), the V Výstaviště tram station in Hole Holešovice, Prague. The project was completed in October 2022 using 3D printing manufacturing technology.

The Prague tram station is a model of innovative construction of urban facilities, proving the possibility of combining robotic 3D printing and UHPC materials in the field of urban furniture. The station roof is covered with plexiglass, which not only protects passengers from the weather, but also prevents direct sunlight. The eight-metre span provides shelter for the station's passengers. Overall appearance drawing of

Parametric design & amp; Topology-optimized

ceiling mesh construction uses the natural principles of stress and strain in the distribution of internal forces or structures, resulting in a design form that is not only unique, but also maximizes efficiency. Structural analysis was carried out at the design stage to reduce the volume of the materials used through topology optimization, while maintaining the aesthetic effect and static requirements. The final shape of the ribs reflects the actual needs of the structure under load. Compared with traditional technology, due to topology optimization and 3D printing technology of ultra-high performance concrete, 60% of materials can be saved, which greatly reduces the use of manpower and meets the freedom of design form.

UHPC Materials and Fabrication

The design of the tram station takes into account the material properties of the UHPC, with the goal of a self-supporting structure using as little steel as possible. Even complex shapes without templates can be created thanks to robotic 3D printing.

The station is composed of several different structural parts, and different concrete proportions and 3D printing methods are used according to local stress requirements. The ceiling and bench are made using robotic 3D printing technology, and concrete materials are selected according to function and load, such as steel fibers are added to the ceiling for reinforcement, while the bench seating area is not used.

Lighting Network & & Other elements The company carried out a power line survey of the V Výstaviště tram station in Hole Holešovice, Prague, and carefully designed the lighting system so that at night, the parking lot is illuminated by multiple light sources located both on the ceiling of the ribbed structure and on individual standing lights.

The site is complete with other functional elements-bike stands, benches and digital information panels.

We believe that the perfect combination of topology optimization (material saving and low carbon by optimizing the structure), UHPC materials (light, thin, high strength and weight reduction) and 3D robot printing technology (intelligent manufacturing and labor saving) must be a construction solution suitable for future trends.

On September 8, 2025, President Nguema of Gabon announced a nationwide ban on the import of clinker from January 1, 2027. Gabon has lost its own clinker production capacity since 2014, and imported clinker has swallowed up a large amount of foreign exchange. The President called for the resumption of competitive local clinker production within one year, leaving a 365-day window for investors. Morocco, Turkey, Nigeria and other enterprises have relevant investment plans. The entry into force of the ban is conducive to stabilizing public works, saving foreign exchange and creating jobs, and whether the rotary kiln can be restarted in the next 15 months has attracted much attention.
