Investigation on River Sand Mining and Sand Mining Management in Xuancheng City by Anhui Provincial Water Resources Department

On May 6, Xu Weiguo, a member of the Party Leadership Group and deputy director of the Water Resources Department of Anhui Province, led a research team to Xuancheng City to investigate the situation of river sand mining and sand mining management. Shi Zhigang, director of the River and Lake Department of the Water Resources Department of Anhui Province, Liu Li, director of the Political and Legal Department of the Water Resources Department of Anhui Province, Liu Dongfeng, director of the Yangtze River Administration Bureau of Anhui Province, and relevant personnel participated in the investigation. Hu Deping, Secretary of the Party Group of Xuancheng Water Conservancy Bureau, Huang Bin, Deputy Governor of Xuanzhou District Government, and other relevant personnel accompanied the investigation.

The research team inspected the dredging and flood control project in the upper reaches of the Shahe River in Honglin Town, Xuanzhou District, Gaomei Mining Area in Shuidong Town, the main stream of the Shuiyang River, and the dredging and river regulation project in the upper half of the Huayang River in Xikou Town. Subsequently, the research team held a symposium in Xuancheng City, which was attended by comrades in charge of water conservancy departments in Tongling City, Xuancheng City and relevant counties and districts. At the meeting, the research team listened to the main practices and suggestions of sand mining management of municipal and county water conservancy departments, understood in detail the planning, licensing, comprehensive utilization of dredged sand, supervision and management of sand mining in cities and counties, and held a discussion and exchange on the next step to do a good job in river sand mining management.

Xu Weiguo stressed that all localities should correctly understand the importance of river sand and gravel resources in ensuring flood control safety, water ecological safety, and the safety of water conservancy facilities, clarify the responsibilities of water conservancy departments in river sand mining management, take the initiative to take action, refine work measures, and strengthen river sand mining management according to law and norms. In order to fulfill the supervision responsibility of water conservancy departments, we should pay attention to the overall benefits of water conservancy, economy, ecology and society, and build happy rivers and lakes.
