On August 28, the Ordos Bureau of Ecology and Environment issued a public announcement on the acceptance of the environmental impact assessment report of the construction project on August 28, 2023. Among the three projects announced, the environmental impact assessment document of the second phase (hydrogen production station) of the demonstration project of the integration of scenery and green hydrogen chemical industry in Wushen Banner of Ordos City was accepted.
Data show that the second phase of the demonstration project of green hydrogen chemical industry in Wushen Banner of Ordos City (hydrogen production station) is constructed by Sinopec Xinxing Inner Mongolia Green Hydrogen New Energy Co., Ltd. with a hydrogen production scale of 20000 tons per year, equivalent to 25368 of Nm ³/H.
The construction includes the construction of a hydrogen production and storage plant, using the process of hydrogen production by water electrolysis, with a hydrogen production scale of 20,000 tons per year, including hydrogen production by water electrolysis, hydrogen storage, hydrogen transmission, supporting utilities and auxiliary facilities. The hydrogen production unit is equipped with 20 sets of 1000Nm ³/H alkaline electrolyzers and 4 sets of 2000Nm ³/H alkaline electrolyzers, 8 sets of 2000m ³ spherical tanks for hydrogen storage and 4 sets of 2000m ³ spherical tanks for oxygen storage, and some utilities are expanded. The source of electricity for the hydrogen production process of
the project is the supporting wind power station, and all the hydrogen produced by water electrolysis hydrogen production is supplied to Zhongtian Co-founder Project as the intermediate production raw material. Zhongtian Hechuang now uses coal as raw material to produce hydrogen and carbon monoxide through gasification reaction with pure oxygen and water at high temperature, and then adjusts the ratio of hydrogen to carbon through conversion reaction (carbon monoxide and water react to produce hydrogen and carbon dioxide) to remove acid gas, and the synthesized methanol is sent to the downstream olefin production plant as intermediate raw material. In the process of hydrogen production, whether it is the gasification process or the production process of power steam required by the air separation unit, there is a large amount of carbon dioxide emissions. After
the project is completed and put into operation, the hydrogen output will be 20000 tons per year. Replacing syngas with "green hydrogen" and adding it to Zhongtian Hechuang methanol synthesis plant will promote the transformation of coal resources in Ordos from "fuel type" to "raw material type", and the transformation of products from "general processing" to "high-end manufacturing", so as to realize the optimization of regional industrial structure. Strengthen and expand the coal-to-olefin and downstream high-end materials industry.
