On August 31, the Chinese Academy of Engineering issued the Announcement on the List of Valid Candidates for the Election of Academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering in 2023. There are 655 people on the list, including 73 people from the Department of Chemical Engineering, Metallurgy and Materials Engineering, including two cement-related experts: Cui Suping from Beijing University of Technology and Hu Shuguang from Wuhan University of Technology.

Cui Suping

Cui Suping , an expert in the field of inorganic non-metallic materials, born in Jinzhong City, Shanxi Province in 1964, is a researcher and doctoral supervisor of the Department of Materials and Manufacturing, Beijing University of Technology. The winner of Beijing Scholar, the candidate of the National Millions of Talents Project, the expert who enjoys the special allowance of the State Council, etc. He is also the director of China Silicate Society and the vice president of Cement Branch, the director of China Materials Research Society and the vice president/Secretary-General of Environmental Materials Branch, the expert member of China Building Materials Federation and the director of Education Department, the vice president of Beijing Silicate Society, and the editorial board member of Journal of Building Materials and Silicate Bulletin.

At present, he is mainly engaged in the research on the preparation and efficient application of high-performance cement materials with low environmental load, presided over and completed the National Science and Technology Support Program, 973 Project and Beijing Key Fund, and participated in the research of innovative group projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China. It is responsible for the construction of the demonstration base for training innovative talents in material recycling green manufacturing (national level), the National Engineering Laboratory for industrial big data and Application Technology, and the academic innovation team in Beijing. His research achievements have won the second prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award twice and nine provincial and ministerial science and technology awards, of which the first person has won the second prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award and the first prize of the Provincial and Ministerial Science and Technology Progress Award. Seven monographs/translations have been published, more than 160 academic papers have been published, more than 80 invention patents and soft copyright have been authorized, and five standards have been formulated. It has opened up the research field of life cycle analysis and ecological design of cement materials and multi-dimensional regulation and control of process, and has taken the lead in the research and application of co-disposal of hazardous waste and sludge in cement production, and has achieved a series of innovative results, which has promoted the green development and scientific and technological progress of the cement industry, and has been rated as an outstanding scientific and technological worker in the national building materials industry and the third top ten scientific and technological innovators in the building materials industry. As the national first-class undergraduate specialty leader of materials science and engineering and the first-level discipline doctoral degree leader, he presided over the new engineering research and practice project of the Ministry of Education, the research of Beijing education and teaching project, the construction of Beijing teaching innovation team, and the continuous innovation of professional education reform. Hu Shuguang

, born in July 1957, is a from Wuhan in Hubei Province, an expert in cement and concrete materials, a doctor of engineering, the chief professor of materials discipline of Wuhan University of Technology, a doctoral supervisor, and a national candidate for the "Millions of Talents Project", who enjoys special government allowances from the State Council. Deputy Director of State Key Laboratory of Silicate Building Materials. Hu Shuguang graduated from Wuhan Institute of Building Materials Industry in 1982, majoring in silicate materials engineering, and stayed at the school as a lecturer, associate professor, professor and doctoral supervisor. He received a master's degree in inorganic non-metallic materials from Wuhan University of Technology in 1987 and a doctor's degree in inorganic non-metallic materials from Wuhan University of Technology in 1992; From December 1995 to January 2000, he successively served as vice president, secretary of the Party Committee and deputy secretary of the Party Committee of the College of Materials Science; from January 2000 to December 2002, he served as secretary of the Party Committee of Hubei University; from January 2003 to January 2021, he successively served as vice mayor of Wuhan, member of the Standing Committee of the Wuhan Municipal Committee, head of the Organization Department, deputy secretary of the Wuhan Municipal Committee and chairman of the Wuhan Municipal Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference. Hu Shuguang has long been engaged in the design theory and preparation technology of advanced cement-based composite materials, the research of high performance concrete, the research and development of special cement and concrete products, and the preparation principle and application technology of environmental and ecological building materials.
