Recently, Guigang, Guangxi, issued the General Plan for Mineral Resources of Guigang City (2021-2025) (hereinafter referred to as the "Plan"), which made detailed arrangements for the layout of mineral exploration, development and protection, the control of development intensity, the efficient utilization of mineral resources and the green development of mining industry, and key projects in Guigang City.
Guigang is rich in mineral resources, mainly including gold, lead-zinc, manganese, copper, gibbsite, rare earth, mineral water, barite, quartz, basalt, diabase, granite, marble, limestone and more than 40 kinds of minerals. The dominant minerals are mainly limestone (calcium carbonate, cement, etc.), basalt, gold ore, lead-zinc ore, manganese ore, etc.
The Plan clearly States that it will closely integrate the planning and layout of the Xijiang Qianli Green Mining Development Zone, give full play to the advantages of Guigang City in connecting the East with the West and leading to Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao, and focus on the exploration and development of calcium carbonate, basalt, non-ferrous metals, geothermal, mineral water and other minerals; Relying on the advantages of Xijiang golden waterway and port, guide the layout and development of resource-based industries along the river, and build Guigang City into an important development and processing base of calcium carbonate and basalt in the whole region; limit the exploitation (total) of rare earth ore; reduce the number of small shale mines for bricks and tiles, and in principle, no new open pit quarry will be set up. According to the key points of mineral resources development and the development direction of mining industry in each county (city, district),
the Plan promotes the intensive development of superior mineral resources in each region and promotes the coordinated development of mining industry in the whole city. Gangbei District promotes the development level of gold, lead, zinc and other metal mining and dressing industries, and stabilizes the development of existing mineral water industry; Gangnan District focuses on the exploration and development of mineral water, geothermal and basalt, and guides the development of basalt fiber and new building materials industries; Tantang District actively integrates resources, guides the development of high-quality and high-value-added products such as nano-calcium carbonate and light calcium carbonate, and builds an important base of nano-calcium carbonate industry in Guangxi. Guiping City focuses on the development of lead-zinc ore and manganese ore mining and dressing industry, and orderly develops fluorite, barite and other non-metallic minerals; Pingnan County focuses on the development of cement industry and gold ore and lead-zinc ore mining and dressing industry, reasonably develops non-metallic minerals, and promotes the development, utilization and protection of rare earth ore.
The Plan emphasizes that we should further strengthen the construction of green mines, promote the transformation and upgrading of mining industry, and accelerate the realization of the overall goal of building all mines in the city into green mines. By 2025, the total number of mining rights in the city will be controlled within 104, the proportion of large and medium-sized mines will reach more than 65%, the "three-rate" level of mines will reach more than 90%, and the proportion of green mines to be built will reach 100%, thus forming a situation of mineral resources conservation, intensive and efficient development and utilization.
