On December 20, Toshiba Corporation of Japan announced its delisting on Wednesday.
Toshiba has announced its withdrawal from part of the photovoltaic business.
Toshiba began selling residential solar power systems in 2010, but due to the introduction of feed-in tariff system in Japan, competition intensified and profits deteriorated, the company decided to terminate the business in February 2023 and transfer the maintenance service business.
However, the company said that this does not mean that Toshiba has completely withdrawn from the field of solar power generation, and that it will focus on the industrial photovoltaic power generation business with engineering capabilities in the future.
In September, Toshiba introduced a new metal-oxide-semiconductor field-effect transistor based on silicon carbide, which is mainly used in solar inverters and battery storage systems.
