Pahang Development Agency (PKNP) and MHT Silica Sand Co., Ltd. plan to build a glass factory in Kuantan, Pahang, Malaysia next year, aiming to attract more than 2 billion ringgit investment and create more employment opportunities. The signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding between the
two organisations was held at the office of the Pahang Development Agency in Kuantan today and witnessed by the State Minister of Pahang, Datuk Seri Wangrosti. Kaili Anhua, Chief Operating Officer
of MHT Silica Sand Co., Ltd., said at a press conference that after the successful establishment of a silica sand factory in Pahang, he hoped to attract foreign operators in related fields to open factories in Pahang.
"We hope to attract foreign solar panels, ceramics, car mirrors and other industries to set up factories in Pahang. We believe that under the leadership of these foreign investors and the Minister of State, the RM2 billion investment will exceed the target." Based on the production capacity of 500000 tons to 1 million tons of silica sand per month, the company estimates that it can bring a return of 30 million to 50 million ringgit per year.
He said that the silica sand plant will invest 200 million ringgit in the first and second years, mainly for the processing of silica sand raw materials, and is expected to complete the construction of the plant as soon as possible within six months after completing the application process and obtaining approval from the authorities.
The plant is located on a 15-acre site in Tanjung Kelang, Kuantan.
"After putting into operation, it is expected to bring about about 1000 jobs for the local people, and once it successfully attracts foreign investment, it will create more employment opportunities in the future.".
MHT Silica Sand Co., Ltd. was established in 2018. Its main business is to process and supply silica sand for domestic and foreign operators. Its export markets include Germany, China, Japan, Korea, Taiwan and Thailand.
