Every time he passes by the lake, Yu Dewang can't help admiring the beautiful scenery. The 53-year-old is now the safety director of Beijing Jinyu Xingfa Technology Co., Ltd. During the flood season, he inspects the park every day to confirm that there is no flood control risk point. For Dewang, every tree and grass here has witnessed his 31 years of struggle.

In the first 20 years of his working career, the unit was successively taken over by French enterprises Lafarge Group and Beijing Jinyu Group Co., Ltd. and changed its name twice, but it never broke away from the "old line" of cement manufacturing.
However, the changes of the times have changed the fate of the company and Yu Dewang. In 2015, after careful consideration, Jinyu Group decided to respond positively to relevant policies and take the initiative to shut down this long-standing cement plant. At that time, in order to relieve non-capital functions, a number of general manufacturing and polluting enterprises in Beijing were shut down and withdrawn one after another. At the same time, a battle against air pollution is being launched in an all-round way.
"At that time, some workers chose to buy out their working age and find another job, while others chose to go to other departments.". But Huairou is my hometown, and this factory is the place where I dedicate my youth, and I really don't want to leave. I believe that through your efforts, we will be able to find the future direction. Yu Dewang chose to stay in the factory to "guard the house" here.
In 2017, the construction plan of Huairou Comprehensive National Science Center in Beijing was approved. Huairou Science City, as the core support of Beijing International Science and Technology Innovation Center, is an important carrier for cultivating national strategic scientific and technological forces.
The Times threw an olive branch for the closed cement plant and met Jinyu Group, which sought transformation. Jinyu Group is determined to make the old cement plant "associate" with science and upgrade the park in combination with the construction plan of Huairou Science City. Since
2017, the upgrading and renovation of the old factory area has been comprehensively promoted. After ecological restoration, the mining area used for ore mining in the past has been built into a three-dimensional green space including ecological landscape green space, artificial lake, stone step theater and other landscapes; part of the old factory buildings used for cement production have retained the "industrial heritage wind" after renovation and transformation, and become teaching buildings and dormitories serving teachers and students in scientific research institutes; Industrial equipment such as locomotives used to transport coal and stone crushers used to crush ore have been placed everywhere in the park by designers and become special "ornaments" bearing the industrial memory of the park. The
design style retains the "cement plant memory", but the dust of the cement plant has long disappeared. Xiong Fang, head of zero-carbon building project of
Beijing Jinyu Xingfa Technology Co., Ltd., introduced that the concept of low-carbon park had been incorporated into the scheme design in the early stage of planning. For example, the park makes full use of the old buildings for renovation, and uses the existing stone, cement aggregate and rails as sculptures, landscape sketches and signs to minimize carbon emissions in the construction process. New buildings insist on meeting the one-star standard of green building, and the energy-saving rate of the building itself is between 65% and 81.4%.
"After the transformation from a cement plant to a low-carbon park, the annual net carbon emissions of the park have been reduced by 98.2%." Xiong Fang said.
On June 28, in the office area of Yanqihu Applied Mathematics Research Institute in Beijing, the stone crusher of the former cement plant has been transformed into the decoration of the building.
This year, Beijing Yanqihu Institute of Applied Mathematics officially moved to Jinyu Xingfa Science Park. Bart Vlaar, a researcher from the Netherlands, also started his new scientific research life in this park.
"I think it's a great thing to be able to transform so many industrial relics into modern office space.". I also like working in such an environment. Bart Vlaar said his family will be reunited here in September this year to create a future for their little family.
Since the Institute moved to the park, they have held the first International Mathematics Summer Camp and the first International Conference on Basic Science.

Beijing Jinyu Xingfa Science and Technology Co., Ltd., said that at present, Beijing Yanqihu Applied Mathematics Research Institute has been stationed, and the remaining projects of the park will be completed in the near future. In the future, the park will continue to actively attract advanced research institutions, scientific research transformation enterprises and high-tech enterprises to settle in, and strive to build academic exchange centers and science and technology transformation centers.
"Over the years, I have witnessed the changes of the cement plant and grown up with it." Yu Dewang said that in 2021, in order to better engage in park management, he obtained an intermediate registered safety engineer through self-study and expanded his professional knowledge reserve.
