On August 9, Canadian Solar (NASDAQ: CSIQ) and EDF Renewables North America today announced the signing of a multi-year module supply agreement to deliver up to 7 GW of high-efficiency n-type TOPCon solar modules. The modules will be manufactured at Canadian Solar's new facility in Mesquite, Texas.
Under the agreement, Canadian Solar will provide its latest high-efficiency n-type TOPCon solar modules to support EDF Renewables' pipeline of projects in the United States between 2024 and 2030 . The TOPCon module has a high conversion efficiency of up to 22.5%, a low temperature coefficient of -0.30%/℃, a low LID ( Light-Induced Degradation ), and an improved bifacial property compared to the Mono-PERC module, all of which lead to an increase in photoelectric conversion efficiency. In July
2023, Canadian Solar announced that it would invest more than $250 million to build a state-of-the-art solar photovoltaic module plant in Mesquite, Texas. Once fully operational, the plant will have an annual output of 5 GW and create around 1,500 skilled jobs. Production is expected to begin in the fourth quarter of 2023.
