Guangdong: Coordinated promotion of pollution reduction and carbon reduction to realize green development of cement industry

Recently, the Department of Ecology and Environment of Guangdong Province, the Development and Reform Commission of Guangdong Province, the Department of Industry and Information Technology of Guangdong Province, the Department of Housing and Urban-Rural Construction of Guangdong Province, the Department of Transportation of Guangdong Province, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Areas of Guangdong Province and the Energy Bureau of Guangdong Province jointly issued a circular on the issuance of the Implementation Plan for the Synergy of Pollution Reduction and Carbon Reduction in Guangdong Province. In the

notice, the word "synergy " was emphasized to promote the integrated planning, deployment, promotion and assessment of pollution reduction and carbon reduction. For cement enterprises , it is necessary to strengthen cooperation with enterprises in key industries such as steel and chemical industry, explore multi-pollutant and greenhouse gas collaborative control technology, and implement carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS) demonstration projects. In addition, we should further implement ultra-low emission transformation, encourage coal-fired power plants and cement kilns to co-dispose of sludge, and promote the harmless treatment of domestic sludge for building materials.
