"Selling electricity through the wall" refers to the market-oriented transaction of distributed generation, which allows distributed generation to sell electricity directly to the surrounding energy consumers through the distribution network, rather than selling it to the grid at a low price and then buying it back from the grid at a high price.

Different from the two common business modes of "self-use, surplus electricity access to the Internet" and "full access to the Internet" in the industry, the project of "selling electricity through the wall" takes into account the advantages of both:

its grid-connected form is similar to the "full access to the Internet" mode, but the settlement method is similar to the "self-use, surplus electricity access to the Internet" mode. That is to say, it is settled directly with users through the provincial power trading center.

At present, various regions have actively explored the construction of market-oriented transactions of distributed generation, especially since 2021, the state has issued many important policy documents to encourage distributed photovoltaic and decentralized wind power projects to participate in market transactions, including direct transactions with surrounding users.

Among them, Zhejiang's policy promotion in this field is the most active. In September

2022, Zhejiang Province passed the Regulations on Electric Power in Zhejiang Province, which proposed that distributed generation enterprises could trade directly with surrounding users in accordance with the regulations, which would be implemented on a trial basis from January 1, 2023.
