CSCEC Western Construction Successfully Completed High-throw Pouring of Self-compacting Concrete for Steel Pipe Column of Jinan Olympic Sports East Block 12 Project

Recently, China Construction Western Construction Xinjiang Co., Ltd. has successfully completed the construction of steel pipe column self-compacting concrete high-throw pouring in Jinan Olympic Sports East Block 12 project. Building C

of the construction site is equipped with a steel pipe column with an elevation of 131.75m. The Jinan regional technical team and the project party decided to adopt the concrete pumping and throwing method in the steel pipe column for construction through comprehensive demonstration.

In order to solve the problems of bubbles, segregation, gaps, honeycombs and holes in high-throw concrete, which affect the quality and strength of concrete pouring, Jinan Regional Technical Team conducted detailed research and experimental demonstration on the technology by using V-shaped funnel, U-shaped box tester and L-shaped flow meter. Finally, the evaluation method, performance index and corresponding test method of pumping high-throwing self-compacting concrete-filled steel tube are determined, and the high-throwing self-compacting concrete with expansion ≥ 650 mm, collapse time 3 s and 3 H slump loss ≤ 10 mm is prepared. During the construction process, all parties in Jinan region cooperated closely and efficiently, and embodied the high-quality service and excellent quality in the project pouring wholeheartedly, which was highly praised by the project side.

According to the deputy chief engineer of Jinan region, the construction technology principle of high-throwing method is to make the concrete mixture not bleed and segregate when it falls freely through appropriate mix proportion, and to use the kinetic energy generated when the concrete mixture falls freely from a high place to achieve the effect of self-compaction without vibration or slight vibration. "The construction technology of this project has technical difficulties such as high viscosity of high-throw concrete, non-stratification of slurry and aggregate, and high fluidity, which poses great challenges to the construction technology.".
