The project is located in a valley about 45 kilometers northeast of Erbil, Iraq. It is a new dry process cement production line with a daily output of 6000 tons of clinker and a heavy oil self-contained power station. The design life is 25 years, the construction period is 2 years, and the operation and maintenance period is 7.5 years. On March 8, 2023, the owner officially issued a commencement order. The process of this
project is complex, with the characteristics of tight construction period, large quantities, heavy tasks of design management and equipment procurement management. In order to ensure the smooth delivery of the project on schedule, the project department first makes full use of internal and external expert resources to make up for our shortcomings, and uses expert resources to intervene in the review of design schemes, equipment selection and implementation schemes, so as to ensure the controllability of project implementation in advance. By strengthening the supervision and guidance of the performance process, we can ensure that the project is completed on schedule, put into production on schedule and reach production capacity. The second is to employ a senior cement plant design consulting team to assist in controlling the quality and progress of the design drawings, and to require the relevant design institutes to send specialists to the construction site to cooperate in solving the problems such as the mismatch between the drawings and the project site. The third is to set up an equipment procurement team with design institutes and consultants (senior experts in the domestic cement industry) to strictly control the quality of equipment. Fourth, strengthen communication with the owners, establish a system of weekly, monthly and special meetings, communicate timely in view of the problems, deeply understand the needs and ideas of the owners, and provide professional solutions.
At present, all kinds of equipment on the project site begin to work in the raw material homogenization silo and the firing kiln tail area, formally launching the "first shot" of the main construction of the project.
It is reported that this project is a strategic project for China Electric Power Construction to open the Kurdish market in Iraq, which is of great significance. After the project is completed and put into operation, it can provide high-quality cement materials for the local area, effectively make up for the shortage of cement in the local area and the central region of Iraq, inject new vitality into the development of the building materials industry in Iraq, and will continue to promote local employment. It is expected that more than 800 jobs will be provided for the local area during the construction period of the project, which will contribute to the economic and social development of Iraq and the improvement of people's livelihood.
