On July 31, the Natural Resources and Planning Bureau of Dazhou City announced that the mining rights of limestone and dolomite for construction in Lujiadong, Chenglong Village, Lacquer Tree Tujia Township, Xuanhan County, Dazhou City, Sichuan Province, would be sold by auction for 25 years at a starting price of 127.2 million yuan. Dazhou City is located in the eastern part of Sichuan, the junction of Sichuan, Chongqing and Shaanxi, with high calcium oxide content and good quality of limestone. It is one of the three calcium-rich mining areas in China, of which the proven resources of limestone for cement are about 420 million tons, and the prospective reserves are nearly 3.447 billion tons. The reserve of sand and gravel for construction is about 340 million tons, and the prospective reserve is nearly 5.6 billion tons.  

The General Plan for Mineral Resources of Dazhou City (2021-2025) points out that the protection and utilization of mineral resources should be strengthened. Reasonably control the intensity of development and utilization and the number of mining rights, improve the scale of mines, save intensive degree, and optimize the structure of mine development and utilization. By 2025, the total number of mining rights in the city will be controlled within 227, of which the number of sand and stone mining rights will be controlled within 70, and the number of brick and tile building materials mining rights will be controlled within 30. During the 14th Five-Year Plan period, we will optimize market allocation, crack down on illegal mining, and withdraw from small mines in an orderly manner in accordance with the law and regulations. By resolutely closing down mines that fail to meet safety and environmental protection standards and eliminating them from the market, we will optimize the structure of mine development and utilization, gradually put in large and medium-sized mining rights, and increase the proportion of large and medium-sized mines to more than 28%.
