On July 27, Deno Co., Ltd., a lithium-ion copper foil company, announced that a fire accident occurred in part of the factory building under construction of Hubei Nord Lithium-ion Materials Co., Ltd., a holding company of the company. The accident did not cause casualties, and the specific causes are being investigated and confirmed.
In this regard, Nord New Material said that the company's lithium copper foil-based production base is located in Xining City, Qinghai Province, Huizhou City, Guangdong Province, Huangshi City, Hubei Province, Guixi City, Jiangxi Province. The site of the accident is the second workshop of Huangshi Copper Foil Construction Base in Hubei Province. The first phase is to build 50000 tons of high-end lithium-ion copper foil and 5G standard copper foil for high-frequency and high-speed circuit boards (considering both flexible switching capacity) and 100000 tons of copper-based material production line. It is planned to be formally put into operation before the end of 2023. The impact of the fire on the project duration is still being assessed, and it is not expected to affect the target of putting into operation in 2023.
The specific location of the accident is No.729, East Jinshan Avenue, Wangren Street, Kaitie District, Huangshi City, Hubei Province. After preliminary understanding, the fire mainly occurred in the copper melting workshop, unburned and main production workshop of No.2 workshop. The specific loss amount is being verified and assessed. The project contractor has purchased relevant insurance for the project under construction, and the relevant claims settlement work is being carried out in an orderly manner. The company will not be affected by the accident except for the damage to the No.2 plant of the Huangshi base under construction in Hubei Province. The company's production and operation are running normally, and the orders in hand will not be significantly affected.
