Guangzhou Municipal Bureau of Ecology and Environment organized a joint law enforcement action against illegal sand washing.

According to the work division arrangement of Guangzhou to implement the supervision and law enforcement mechanism of sand washing in Guangdong Province, in the first quarter of 2023, Guangzhou Ecological Environment Bureau took the lead in carrying out joint law enforcement actions with relevant departments such as the Municipal Planning and Natural Resources Bureau, the Municipal Water Affairs Bureau, the Municipal Comprehensive Law Enforcement Bureau of Urban Management and the Nansha District Government on the land sand washing project in Nansha District. After the

the Spring Festival, the Municipal Bureau of Ecology and Environment investigated the land sand washing sites within the jurisdiction of Guangzhou. By means of unmanned aerial vehicles and unmanned boats, the sand washing sites of Jiaomen Waterway and Hongqili Waterway in Nansha District were cruised, focusing on checking whether there were unauthorized sand production and construction activities such as washing, soaking, filtering and desalting of sea sand, mountain sand, silt and construction waste.

In March, the Municipal Bureau of Ecology and Environment, together with the relevant departments, carried out joint law enforcement, inspected eight land sand washing projects in Nansha District on the spot, inspected the implementation of construction waste disposal approval, water intake permi ssion, land use approval and planning permission, and the relevant requirements of river management scope one by one, and sent them to the door of the law. In view of the problems raised by the owners of the sand washing yard, such as the handling of formalities, the law popularization and answering questions were carried out. The problems found in the inspection have been followed up by the relevant functional departments.
