Qidong, Jiangsu Province actively promotes the comprehensive utilization of dredged sand in the Yangtze River

Recently, Wu Huiming, head of water administration supervision team of Jiangsu Provincial Department of Water Resources, and his delegation went to Qidong to investigate the comprehensive utilization of dredged sand in the Yangtze River Estuary, fully affirming the planning and deployment made by Qidong in the comprehensive utilization of dredged sand in the Yangtze River Estuary and the preliminary results achieved. , Qidong has 69.3 kilometers of North Branch River shoreline, of which the development shoreline is about 20 kilometers long. The industry involves marine engineering equipment, special shipbuilding, major technical equipment and other fields. Thanks to the natural geographical advantages at the junction of rivers and seas, COSCO Marine Engineering, Zhenhua Heavy Industry, Universal Oriental and a number of other "big country heavy equipment" have been stationed, which has made this large-scale national marine industry base.

However, due to the superposition of multiple factors such as tide and upstream and downstream river regime, the Qidong section of the waters is seriously silted up, and the shipping enterprises along the river need to dredge the wharf, basin, dock and special waterway many times a year. It not only seriously affects the normal production and operation of enterprises, but also increases the dredging cost of enterprises along the Yangtze River by about 49.5 million yuan annually.

In order to break through the bottleneck of the development of marine engineering enterprises and turn the disadvantage of siltation into the advantage of resources, Qidong Municipal Government actively explores the comprehensive utilization of dredged sand in view of the high dredging frequency and large yard area of ship enterprises along the Yangtze River. According to the investigation, the total annual declared dredging volume of 17 shipbuilding enterprises along the Yangtze River this year is about 3.1 million square meters.

In accordance with the spirit of relevant documents in Nantong, Qidong immediately compiled the Implementation Plan for Comprehensive Utilization of Dredged Sand in Qidong Section of the Yangtze River, emphasizing the principles of "priority of protection, rational utilization, government-led, intensive disposal, key safeguards, overall consideration, strict supervision and standardized implementation". It is determined to set up a transfer yard for comprehensive utilization of 300 mu of dredged sand in the middle zone of the Marine Engineering Ship Park. Sand and gravel dredged ashore must be disposed of uniformly through the municipal public resources trading platform, mainly for key infrastructure construction and livelihood projects, giving priority to ensuring the construction of water conservancy projects. At present, about 3.1 million cubic meters of dredged sand are planned for this year, which is initially determined to be fully digested by water conservancy, municipal, road and other projects.
