With the rising price of sand and gravel, driven by interests, some people along the river took chances and used tricycles and other tools to steal river sand by "ants moving". On March 22, the Water Administration Inspection Brigade of Huichang County, in conjunction with the Township Comprehensive Law Enforcement Brigade, dispatched more than 10 law enforcement officers to crack down on the "ant moving" type of illegal mining along the Xiangjiang River. More than 30 river sand were cleaned up on the spot, three villagers were criticized and educated for illegal mining, and one tricycle was seized according to law, which effectively stopped the illegal mining of river sand.
