It not only seriously affects the normal production and operation of enterprises, but also increases the dredging cost of enterprises along the Yangtze River by about 49.5 million yuan annually.

Recently, the Water Administration Supervision Team of Jiangsu Provincial Water Resources Department came to Qidong to investigate the comprehensive utilization of dredged sand in the Yangtze River. The research team fully affirmed Qidong's planning, deployment and preliminary results in the comprehensive utilization of dredging sand in the estuary. Located at the end of the Yangtze River

, Qidong has 69.3 kilometers of North Branch River shoreline, of which the development shoreline is about 20 kilometers long. The industry involves marine engineering equipment, special shipbuilding, major technical equipment and other fields. Thanks to the natural geographical advantages at the junction of rivers and seas, COSCO Marine Engineering, Zhenhua Heavy Industry, Universal Oriental and a number of other "big country heavy equipment" have been stationed, which has made this large-scale national marine industry base.

However, due to the influence of multiple factors such as tide and upstream and downstream river regime, the Qidong section is seriously silted up. Shipbuilding enterprises along the Yangtze River need to dredge wharfs, basins, docks and special waterways many times a year, which not only seriously affects the normal production and operation of enterprises, but also increases the dredging costs of enterprises along the Yangtze River by about 49.5 million yuan a year.

In order to break through the bottleneck of the development of marine enterprises and turn the disadvantage of siltation into the advantage of resources, Qidong actively carried out the exploration of comprehensive utilization of dredged sand, and promulgated the implementation plan of comprehensive utilization of dredged sand (pilot) in Qidong section of the Yangtze River. It emphasizes the principles of "giving priority to protection, rational utilization, government-led, intensive disposal, ensuring key points, overall consideration, strict supervision and standardized implementation". According to the investigation, the total annual declared dredging volume of 17 shipbuilding enterprises along the Yangtze River this year is about 3.1 million square meters. Qidong has decided to set up a transfer yard for comprehensive utilization of 300 mu of dredged sand in the middle zone of the Marine Engineering Ship Park. Sand and gravel dredged ashore must be disposed of uniformly through the municipal public resources trading platform, mainly for key infrastructure construction and livelihood projects, giving priority to ensuring the construction of water conservancy projects. At present, about 3.1 million cubic meters of dredged sand are planned for this year, which is initially determined to be fully digested by water conservancy, municipal, road and other projects.

In the first ten months of this fiscal year (2024.7-2025.4), Pakistan's cement export volume increased by nearly 29% year-on-year to 7.4 million tons, but the overall shipment volume only slightly decreased by 0.32% to 37.336 million tons, mainly due to the sluggish domestic demand. Domestic sales fell by 5.55% and export volume increased by 28.77%. In April 2025, the total shipment volume increased by 13.24% compared with the same period last year. APCMA called on the government to introduce measures to stimulate domestic construction activities. The cement industry in Pakistan is affected by the economy and cost, and relies on exports to digest production capacity.
