Demand for cement is growing rapidly! Cancellation of import tariffs on cement in Uzbekistan

Uzbekistan imported more than 520,000 tons of cement from abroad in January-February 2021, an increase of 350,000 tons over the same period last year,

according to the Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan. Cement imports in the first two months of 2021 were one-fifth of the total in 2020.

Main importing countries: Kazakhstan 226,700 tons, Kyrgyzstan 159,500 tons, Tajikistan 134,300 tons.

According to official data, from January to December 2020, Ukraine produced 12.54 million tons of cement, an increase of 14% over the same period in 2019. The reason for the continuous growth of cement production lies in the continuous implementation of large-scale investment projects involving foreign capital.

In 2020, Ukraine's cement consumption reached 14.52 million tons, and the export volume was 530,000 tons. The factory with the largest output in that year was К 3.69 million tons.

In addition, the price of metals is also increasing, and it is recommended to organize the purchase of these products directly from manufacturers.

Currently, cement and metals are traded through the Ukrainian National Commodity and Raw Materials Exchange.

In addition, in order to reduce the price of houses under construction, Ukrainian President Mirziyoyev signed a presidential decree on March 11, deciding to temporarily exempt imported cement products from tariffs.

According to the Presidential Decree on Several Supplementary Measures to Guarantee Residential Housing by Providing Mortgage Loans on the Basis of Market Principles, Ukraine will suspend tariffs on imported cement from April 1 to October 1, 2021 (the current tariff rate is 30% of the customs value). Ukraine pointed out that the construction sector will develop rapidly in the coming months, which may lead to rising prices of cement and other building materials. It is necessary for the government to take timely measures to expand the supply of related products and services and encourage market competition.
