German cement giant Heidelberg Cement is tightening its grip on the Indian cement market. Heidelberg took a controlling stake in Mysore Cement in July. Recently, Heidelberg acquired two grinding stations in Kerala.
Heidelberg Cement officials in India did not comment on the acquisition. "Although these mills are small in size, they help Heidelberg to consolidate its position in the southern Indian market," the market analyst said. This is a strategic behavior of Heidelberg Company. At present, the price of cement in Kerala is higher than in other parts of southern India, with an average of 5 to 7 Indian lira ( $0.11 to $0.15) per package.
India has become a country with rapid economic development after China, and the demand for construction in society is also increasing. International building materials giants such as Holcim, Heidelberg and Lafarge have already set up cement companies in India. Analysts believe that India's cement production will continue to grow at a rate of 8-10% until 2010. < BR > (Please indicate the source for reprinting on China Cement Net)
